Wallace Rider Farrington High School is filled with students who want to expand their knowledge on as many things as possible. During these crucial years of our lives, we want to take advantage of many things we possibly can, which would get us ready for the 'real life' we are to experience after graduating high school. By paying attention to how intrigued we were in learning more about engineering concepts, Mrs. Bebi Davis, who teaches both chemistry and physics, took the initiative to give us an opportunity to compete in different robotics competitions. With help from McKinley High School, our team started with just the bare minimum. We had a drill press and a ban saw for FIRST. We also had to work out of classrooms and in our mentors' shop class. Our team has since expanded, we now have our own chop saw and belt sander to add to our other power tools. We also have access to a lathe (when it gets repaired) and a mill (if we can get a bit for it). From our first year of working in those small classrooms, we now have our very own shop to work out of. It was our school's old auto-tech shop.

As of today we have five teachers and more than ten mentors coming and going to help our team as much as they can. Three of them, former team mates, now college students, spend a lot of their time helping out this year's robotics team. Our first competition was Botball. We now participate in the VEX and FIRST programs. Since our team was founded we have received many awards, including our Iolani Regional Championship trophy for VEX and the Regional Tournament Finalist award for FIRST. From being near last in the 2007 VEX game we have made great leaps in our robotics program. Starting with six members in 2007, we currently have 24 members for our 2013-2014 FIRST robotics season.
